I keep seeing these gray squares and can't seem to figure how to order.

These two issue relate to the same solution.  The gray squares represent places where a JAVA applets exists.  In some cases JAVA scripts are simply decorative or entertaining, but in the case of most shopping carts JAVA scripts are essential.

If you are only seeing gray squares you either do not have the JAVA PLUG-IN, you haven't install it properly, or you have the incorrect version for your web browser.

Even if you decide not to shop with us today, we recommend getting the JAVA plug-in since it is used at MANY Internet sites for many application and at sometime you WILL want and need it.  To get your JAVA download please visit the SUN website at: http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp and follow the instructions from the software provider.  You can even verify your installation right there at their web site.

Once you have JAVA installed you'll be able to see more, do more, and even order from our online store.

Is there any other way I can order?

You could print out an order form from our shopping cart, SEE ABOVE.  You will still need the JAVA plug-in though, in order to fill in the required information and even to see the large selection or belts, customizations, and pricing.

How safe is it to order online?

We use SSL (Secure Socket Layers) on our server.  The shopping cart sends your encrypted order information (except your payment details) to our secure server, where only we can retrieve your information, securely, when we are notified of your order.  Then, while still encrypted and secure your are transferred to the PayPal website where you will continue the financial part of your order on PayPal's secure servers.  It's like double protection.  IMPORTANT: You must use the link at PayPal to return to our site (NOT the "back" button of your browser) or your order will not be completed!

But I don't have a PayPal account.

You don't have to have a PayPal account.  You could open one if you choose, or you can simply use their processing service for your existing credit card account.

I filled out my order and when I go to "continue" it keeps telling me something is missing.

There could be several reasons for this.  You could have actually forgotten to enter some information on the order form.  Generally, the program is so smart, it will actually give you a clue to what your forgot.

Another causes of this and other shopping cart problems is an overloaded and "stuck" browser cache.  (When you learn this bit of computer maintenance you will be able to "cure" many browsing "errors"--so we are teaching your a bit of essential user knowledge.)

What's a cache?  --Web Browsers save information about the sites you visit; the text on a page, the pictures, sound files, and other bits that make up the pages you visit.  The purpose of this is to store as much as possible on your local machine (i.e. the one you are accessing the web with at home or work or school).

The theory is that it is faster to access a saved (cached) picture (or other) that is stored on your computer than to have to re-download it every time you re-visit a web site.  However, in practice many browsers are poorly maintained, not configured to clear themselves of the clutter, or just plain get stuck.  One symptom of this is your web browser starts to slow down a bit, or you see "old" expired pictures on a site.  (This can also indicate other issues, but "purging" the browser cache is the first safest, and easiest resolution.)

In Internet Explorer:

1.) From the menu bar at the top of the screen select TOOLS and then select INTERNET OPTIONS.
The screen that you see next will already be in the "General" tab.  Usually, in about the middle of that screen, you will see a "Temporary Internet Files" section.  Select "DELETE FILES" and wait. -- Smile! your just purged your cache.

2.) Now...while you are there...we recommend that you also "toss your cookies".  Select the "DELETE COOKIES" button.

3.) If you wish, you can check your "SETTINGS".  There are a variety of options here that we won't delve into...but if you want, under "Check for newer versions of stored pages" you could see that "Every visit to the page" is selected.  (You may still need to purge your cache, and delete your cookies occasionally, but now you know!)

4.) Finally, it's a good idea to close the browser, and re-start.

In other browsers:  The controls will be located in different areas, and different labels.  Use the Browser's HELP menu to locate instructions.

I tried that...and I'm still having strange results when trying to order.

It is possible that your browser security settings are TOO stringent and your browser is not accepting our cookies.  Our cookies do a number of things, such as keeping track of your order so that if your session is interrupted you will hopefully not have to re-do your entire order.  Other features also send cookies to your computer.  We also like to know, in the broadest, non-specific sense how many folks stop by to visit, how they find us.  These are all harmless little functions that you are welcome to "toss" (see above) once you complete your order.  But, if you are having trouble with placing the order you might like to return to the TOOLS menu and select SECURITY and PRIVACY and lower your settings.  Generally MEDIUM to MEDIUM HIGH (respectively) are an over-all good choice.  For more details and assistance we suggest you consult your HELP files.  We would like to be as helpful as possible, but we cannot provide "in-depth" tech support.

I didn't receive a receipt in my email.

If, at the end of the order processing page you hit PRINT, and not PayPal, you won't get a receipt by email.  We won't be aware of your order until you mail it in with your remittance.

If you selected the PayPal button you will usually get two receipts; one from Swashbucklers confirming the items on your order and one from PayPal confirming your transaction.  IMPORTANT: You must use the link at PayPal to return to our site (NOT the "back" button of your browser) or your order will not be completed!

Should you not receive either of these receipts it is likely that your ISP has blocking and anti-spam filters that are too stringent and they have blocked your inbox from receiving our email and/or PayPal's notice.  Some Internet Service Providers store blocked email temporarily in a "JUNK" email box.  You might want to check that and see if our email or PayPal's is setting there waiting for your approval to receive.

We recommend user control of SPAM filters...you are the best person to know which email you want to receive and which you don't.  There are many anti-spam programs that you can configure for yourself, but it's likely you will still have to access controls to turn off the one from your ISP...or at least set it to accept email from individuals or domains that your normally expect email from.  Since ISPs are different you will need to contact your personal service for instructions.

Speaking of SPAM, I don't want my email address distributed and slammed with SPAM.

We HATE SPAM too!  If we should ever begin to send out an announcement you will have to OPT-IN (intentionally, not with some sneaky little button pre-set.)  You won't automatically receive announcements from us, just because you shopped our store.

We never sell, share, trade or otherwise distribute your email address OR ANY OTHER INFORMATION that you provide.
